Luke Harris is a high school junior at Horace Mann School in New York City. He is an engineering and game design lover. He works part-time for Avid Games, helping with the design of their award-winning game Cards, the Universe and Everything. For the past two years he has been developing a design engineering curriculum for kids, created to teach real-world entrepreneurial and engineering skills. This article about the experience was recently published in Fast Company magazine. Currently he’s working on this marine biology competition in order to help educate young students about the deep.

Dr. Helen Scales:
Dr Helen Scales is a marine biologist, writer and broadcaster. She is author of the Guardian bestseller Spirals in Time, New Scientist book of the year Eye of the Shoal, and the children’s book The Great Barrier Reef. She writes for National Geographic Magazine, the Guardian, and New Scientist, among others. She teaches at Cambridge University and is science advisor for the marine conservation charity Sea Changers. Helen divides her time between Cambridge, England, and the wild Atlantic coast of France.

Maynard Okereke:
Maynard Okereke, better known as the Hip Hop M.D., graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Civil Engineering. His passion for science and entertainment, along with his curiosity for new innovation has taken him through an incredible life journey.
He now uses his knowledge of science to help inspire minorities and youth by bridging the gap between music, entertainment, & science – encouraging more diverse involvement in the S.T.E.M. fields.
